London Fire Brigade on alert as three rescued from floods

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) is warning people to stay away from 'moving water' after three children in Lewisham were rescued from a river. The capital’s firefighters have also been put on flood alert after the Met Office issued a ‘yellow alert’ severe weather warning and the Environment Agency issued 35 flood alerts for the capital.

Police seek witnesses to fatal A40 collision

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision on the A40 which also caused long tailbacks across west London. Officers were called at 06:50 on Thursday, 15 March, to a road traffic collision on the eastbound A40 between Concord Road and Gypsy Corner. Met sources said a male motorcycle rider was treated by paramedics for injuries received as a result of the accident.

Hammersmith Flyover to be ready for Olympics, TfL

Essential repair works to allow the Hammersmith Flyover to be fully reopened to traffic ahead of the London Olympics have now been completed, Transport for London (TfL) announced today. The works, which began in January, have seen around 200m of the central reservation along the flyover removed in preparation for new tensioning cables to be installed which will support the structure.
