'Kissing horse' is mane event at Queen's Jubilee parade

An Army horse from the Household of Cavalry's Knightsbridge Barracks has been displaying her affectionate side - saying thank you with a smacker. Thomas, a 24-year-old Irish draught sport horse, is one of the horses rehearsing for the Diamond Jubilee parade. Those who fancy cosying up to the warhorse, who is a veteran of high-profile ceremonial events, will have to come armed with mints to curry favour with the four-legged star.

Queen vows to serve country anew on 60th year milestone

 

The Queen has promised to dedicate herself to the service of the country on the 60th year of her reign as monarch. In a special message signed simply Elizabeth R, she thanked her subjects for 'the wonderful support and encouragement' given to her and Prince Philip.

After three years of construction work Exhibition Road was officially opened by Boris Johnson and the leaders of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the City of Westminster.
