Many parts of west London and the UK have continued to bask in wall to wall sunshine throughout the week but weather forecasters have warned it will all fizzle out by this weekend with temperatures reverting to the normal average for this time of the year. Some showers are also expected after long spells of dry weather which has plunged parts of the country into drought.

Last Tuesday marked the official start of spring after a winter of largely mild conditions. Forecasters had predicted the thermometer would hit 20C in London and the south east last Saturday and Sunday, with the rest of the country also seeing warm weather.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) is warning people to stay away from 'moving water' after three children in Lewisham were rescued from a river. The capital’s firefighters have also been put on flood alert after the Met Office issued a ‘yellow alert’ severe weather warning and the Environment Agency issued 35 flood alerts for the capital.
With many trees still to shed their leaves and some sunflowers still blossoming it has come as no surprise this November and autumn have been the second warmest on record in the UK according to provisional Met Office figures. Statistics for November show that parts of the country have seen monthly temperatures of up to 3.0 °C above the long-term average.
